In 1915, a group from Penshurst gave the inaugural performance of the instrumental version of Sound Sleep by Ralph Vaughan Williams. This year we are singing one of the first performances of three other songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, which have only just been found and recorded. It is a privilege to be able to do this, so come and hear these lovely poems of Alfred, Lord Tennyson set to music by RVW.
What better way to spend time on a summer evening than listening to lovely music by Vaughan Williams, Stanford and Holst. Not only are we singing by Jong Gyung Park and Anthony Zerpa Falcon are playing four movements of the Planets by Holst set for four hands – particularly apposite as it is 100 years since Holst composed this remarkable piece.
